Recently, I had the pleasure of co-organizing a fam trip to Cuba in collaboration with Aviareps, Condor Airlines, and the Cuban Tourism Board. Joining us on this journey were representatives from well-known travel agencies in Norway and Denmark, who had the opportunity to experience Cuba’s unique destinations and explore a wide range of hotels.
Despite the challenges Cuba faces, the country impressed us with its soul, culture, and nature, making this trip a memory of a lifetime.

Havana – Cuba’s Vibrant Heart
Our first stop was Havana, a city offering a captivating mix of history, culture, and music. The colorful buildings of Habana Vieja and the sounds of salsa leave a lasting impression. Travel agency representatives explored everything from historic landmarks like Plaza de la Revolución to hidden gems in the narrow streets.
Next, we traveled to Pinar del Río and Viñales, where Cuba’s lush landscapes truly shone. The iconic mogotes of Viñales Valley, surrounded by verdant greenery, were breathtaking.
We visited a tobacco farm to learn about traditional cigar production in Cuba’s fertile tobacco region.
A highlight of this stop was Cueva de Indio, an underground cave where we sailed through narrow channels surrounded by unique rock formations—a perfect blend of nature and history.
Varadero – Relaxation and Luxury
In Varadero, we experienced Cuba’s most famous beaches. With soft, white sand and crystal-clear waters, this was the ultimate spot for relaxation. The travel representatives explored all-inclusive hotels of varying categories, from luxurious resorts to family-friendly options.
Historic Trinidad and Artistic Camagüey
In Trinidad, one of Cuba’s most historic cities, we felt as if we had stepped back in time. With cobblestone streets, colorful colonial houses, and a vibrant atmosphere, it’s no surprise this UNESCO World Heritage Site feels like a living history book. Every street, square, and building tells a story of the sugar plantation era’s grandeur.
In Camagüey, we discovered a city unlike any other in Cuba. Its maze-like streets and rich history immediately stood out. Founded in 1514 as Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe, the city was later moved inland to avoid pirate attacks. Today, its labyrinthine design is part of its charm.
We explored the historic center, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, and were enchanted by places like Plaza San Juan de Dios, with its cobblestone square and colorful colonial buildings. The city’s signature tinajones (large clay jars) added to its unique character. Camagüey surprised us with its authenticity and depth, leaving us with a deeper understanding of what makes Cuba so special.
Holguín and a Catamaran Ride to Cayo Saetía
From Camagüey, we traveled to Holguín, a city known for its serene atmosphere, parks, viewpoints, and artistic spirit. Unlike Cuba’s bustling cities, Holguín offers a tranquil experience where you can enjoy local plazas and daily life at a slower pace. Its vibrant street art adds a unique charm to the cityscape.
One of the highlights was visiting Cayo Saetía, a hidden gem on Cuba’s northeastern coast known for its pristine beaches and exotic wildlife. The island serves as a private safari park, where you can spot antelopes, zebras, and ostriches in their natural habitat. Its postcard-perfect beaches, with white sand and crystal-clear waters, are ideal for snorkeling and relaxation. Traveling to the island by catamaran added to the adventure, making it a must-see destination in Cuba.
Cuba – A Destination for Everyone
This unforgettable trip to Cuba gave us a unique opportunity to explore the country’s many facets. From historic cities to luxurious hotels, lush valleys, and tropical beaches, Cuba showcased why it’s a destination that caters to all types of travelers.
With Condor Airlines as our travel partner, the journey was seamless and comfortable, and participants returned home with new knowledge and inspiration. Cuba is more than just a vacation spot—it’s an experience that leaves a lasting impression.
